Golf Club: Main Equipment Used in the Sport Golf

By Mark Ralston

If you are interested to play golf and eventually be known as a pro in this sport, then you must start shopping yourself a golf club now. It is definitely one of the very first things you must secure so you can finally start playing golf.

Basically, a golf club is an equipment used to hit a golf ball. It is made up of a shaft with a grip or a lance and a clubhead. At present, it comes in five classes " wood, iron, wedge, hybrid and putter. The most popular among the five are the wood, iron, and putter. Woods are the favorite clubs of golfers who are fond of making shots that cover long distances. Irons are perfect clubs for golfers who love making different shots. And finally, putters are special-class clubs for golfers who like rolling the ball into the cup.

Two other classes, wedge and hybrid, are also highly effective though they are not so popular. Wedges are iron clubs that come with a higher loft compared to a 9 iron. They are the favorite clubs of golfers who love making short-distance and high-altitude shots. While hybrids are clubs that share same features with woods and irons. They are clubs well-loved by golfers who are fond of making long-distance shots with incomparable swings.

Of course when you finally shop for golf clubs, you can always go for your own choices. But according to the pros, if you are an amateur, there are some classes that you must avoid. They say you must avoid irons specifically the 3- and 4-irons as many people say they are inefficient to use. You can't make any hits using these clubs. Instead of having them, you can try hybrids which are believed to be amateur-friendly.

To enjoy a round of golf, you can have a set of golf clubs which should not go beyond more than 14 clubs and more or less should consist of a club of your choice, two fairway woods, a driver, irons from 3 to 9, a putter, a sand wedge, and a pitching wedge.
