Things you need to know about when buying a Family Tent!

By Don Korte

With spring right around the corner you may find that you have been bitten by the camping bug. Take your kids away from their Internet and their video games and show them what a weekend in the rough is really like! Parents who give their kids a great adventure in the outdoors know that they will be thanked for it later. Consider what you can do to get your family off the couch and into the wilderness.

When you are considering a good tent, think about how many people are in your family. Whether you are shopping for three or five, there are lots of great tents out there. Manufacturers have made tents that are more accommodating than what you may be used to, and there are lots of great tents out there that will be interesting and fun for you to think about when you are looking camping.

Remember when you walked into a tent as a little kid, and how you didn't have to duck? The truth is that you still don't have to duck at all if you get a great dome tent. A dome tent can take care of most large families, and some are going to be as tall as six to seven feet. You can use them to get dressed and you won't feel cramped at all.

If you are camping on your own, you'll find that there are also single person tents that will let you get by. There are great tents that can be set up on your own and that will protect you from the elements if you run into a patch of rough weather. Look for a tent that is not bulky because you need to carry it with you.

If you want a terrific family tent, make sure that you find a style that suits you. Consider what your family has to say and see what kind of vote you get. Your kids will love the idea of roughing it in the wild, and you'll discover that they might never play so hard or sleep so well. While most of their days are going to be spent running around outside, you'll find that it is still important to make sure that they have a place that they feel comfortable in to sleep.

With a cabin tent, you are getting a structure that is designed for space and head room. There is going to be an extra room for more kids or more things, and the room dividers are great when you are working to make sure that everyone gets the privacy that they are interested in. You'll even have door-sills that let you keep the rest of the tent clean and the separate rooms are great for parents and kids alike.

If your kids love to build forts, you'll find that getting them a small tent of their own is a great idea. If you are considering camping in any season besides summer, make sure that you get one that is rated for such. Remember that even though it seems like you are doing a lot of work to get this all together, it is going to pay off when it comes to the memories that you are looking to make.

When you are thinking about activities for the year, take some time to make sure that you consider getting out more, seeing the sites, and really taking your family out into the woods. Find out what kind of seasonal rating you need on your tent, and make sure that you find the right size tent that is going to suit you.
